The impact of business risks associated with cooperation in supply chains on the financial condition and financial results of business entities

This scientific article examines the impact of business risks on the financial condition and financial results of business entities participating in supply chains in Ukraine. The study emphasizes the critical importance of logistics and supply chain management for Ukrainian business entities in the conditions of the military development of the country's economic system. The article aims to identify ways to mitigate and/or hedge business risks for participants in supply chains in Ukraine by identifying business risks for specific groups of supply chain entities and assessing the impact of these risks on the financial condition and financial results of supply chain entities in the country. A combination of general and specific research methods was applied at the empirical and theoretical levels. These included logical generalization to clarify the essence of the concepts of “supply chain” and “business risks”; a literature review to examine scholarly research on the development of logistics activities at Ukrainian enterprises, including under wartime conditions; and an analysis of approaches to ensuring effective cooperation among enterprises in the formation and operation of supply chains, with due consideration of the impact of wartime factors, the identification and mitigation of the impact of business risks on the activities of business entities, including logistics operations. The research also employed induction and deduction to identify business risks affecting specific groups of supply chain entities and assess their impact on the financial condition and financial performance of these entities; synthesis to develop strategies for mitigating and/or hedging business risks faced by supply chain participants in Ukraine; and systematization, grouping, and logical generalization to organize the findings, draw conclusions, and formulate scientific recommendations. The study identifies the key business risks faced by different groups of supply chain participants and examines their impact on the financial condition and financial performance of Ukrainian supply chain participants. It also outlines strategies for mitigating and/or hedging these risks for supply chain participants in the country. The recommendations outlined in this article should be considered in the context of their importance for ensuring the resilience of business organizations’ logistics operations in Ukraine, as well as for enhancing the level of economic security for participants in the country’s supply chains. Uniqueness/value – improved approaches to developing strategies for mitigating and/or hedging business risks for supply chain participants in Ukraine, taking into account the impact of business risks on the financial condition and financial results of supply chain entities in the country.
